January 22, 2013

FREE WEB-BASED COLLEGE & CAREER PLANNING RESOURCES

Peterson’s (a Nelnet company), who have provided college and career planning resources for many years, has a free web-based resource, StudentEdge.   To register go to http://www.studentedge.com and select “Get StudentEdge: Click Here” and then enter our Access Code by simply search for Malcolm school using the look up feature.  Any break (including ice/snow days) we have is a great time for you to work in StudentEdge and prepare for upcoming ACT or SAT tests, research colleges with parents, learn about tips for writing essays and scholarship searching.   Students and parents of any age student are welcome to use the site but it is particularly useful to the upper classes.  Please help keep this resource free by registering and using the helpful information.

Another great free site, sponsored by the United States Army, is http://www.march2success.com.  This site has a variety of tools students can use to prepare for college including SAT/ACT test preparation.  You will have to register during which you have the option to be contacted by a recruiter.  A contact request is not required to gain access to this helpful site.   There are seven full length SAT and ACT tests that you can use to practice as well as review lessons and flashcards to use to enhance your skills.  There is a 90 day time limit after which your account will be closed.  You can re-register but any information about scores you earned on practice tests will be lost.
